Those who are interested in knowing just how clean Lake Martin is are invited to a "State of the Lake" presentation sponsored by Lake Watch during its 17th annual meeting. The meeting will be held at the Elks Lodge (Elks Parkway near the Highway 280 bridge) on Sunday 25 October 2009. Doors open at noon, with lunch (free to Lake Watch members) beginning at 12:30.

Dr. Bill Deutsch and Eric Reutebuch of Auburn University's Alabama Water Watch office will take a look at past water quality in the lake and discuss the results of recent tests to show current conditions and trends. They and members of AU's Water Resurces Center will then lead a discussion of what the future of Lake Martin might be and what actions are necessary to preserve the lake's ranking as the cleanest in the state. This is a presentation you won't want to miss.

The program is provided as a public service and all are invited. Non-members of Lake Watch need pay only a nominal fee for lunch. Reservations are required: (256)825-9353 or email dbronson@charter.net.
