We have friends who used ipe decking on a new dock and I have been amazed at how it looks seven years later.  The deck was initially stained and has been restained a couple of times, and the wood looks absolutely like new, no warping, no wear, no rot, no nothing and it is in the sun all day.  Installation is tough.  Ipe is so hard that each screw hole has to be drilled which takes time and you should use stainless screws, since the deck will last a lifetime.  I've seen ipe for sale on line so you may want to check prices there.
