APCo guidelines state " Dredging material from lakebed must be approved by Alabama Power Co prior to the removal of "any" material. Applications for this activity will be reviewed on a case by case basis"
I met with APCo last week regarding a new (replacement) seawall and boathouse. The shoreline management office can be reached (256) 825 0053 or (205) 257 2810.
They were very accommodating but everything must be submitted in writing. They will allow me to dredge where the boathouse is going only to the extent the material is used for backfill for the seawall.
They did state that they are enforcing their guidelines more than in the past. Their guidelines were revised in March 2004 and I encourage you to contact them for the most recent guidelines.
