My wife and I do the same thing and use very little cash. We get 5% cash back on money spent in grocery stores, gas stations, and the pharmacy (2% on everything else), and also have a detailed record of all purchases. When I travel, this record helps with taxes and also helps with budgeting around the house. One check pays everything off at the end of the month. In 23 years of marriage, we have never paid a dime of interest on a credit card. It may seem trivial, but we average around $1000 per year in savings by doing this.
