Thanks LTL for setting the record straight. If anyone wants more information on the condition of the Dadeville wastewater treatment plant, see http://www.epa.gov/cgi-bin/get1cReport.cgi?tool=echo&IDNumber=AL0063797 (sorry for the lengthy website but that's how the EPA works).

Since I represent Lake Watch, here is our position on the issue. Lake Watch does not object to the ethanol plant in Dadeville and supports it PROVIDED our environmental concerns are satisfied. We think that is a reasonable approach that does not inhibit industrial growth while protecting what some refer to as the economic engine of our future.

After reading the EPA information, it should be clear that any new discharge into the existing treatment plant simply adds to the overload that currently causes by-pass of untreated sewage into the Sandy Creek part of Lake Martin. No matter whether you are a tree-hugger or someone who cares for the lake, that's a problem that must be addressed. And the issue is being addressed to the Dadeville City Council and the Tallapoosa County Commission.
