I did it twice by boat. '98 and '99. It was pretty awesome and I have to agree with the others. Know the water well before hand and as much as possible, sit tight till the traffic dies down.

I was anchored in front of Childrens Harbor the first year. Did fine through the show but afterwards, all the wakes broke the anchor free twice. The second year, I was easing toward Real Island thinking I had done pretty good. I happened to look back and saw a wake coming toward my stern faster than I was going. It came over the back before I could hit the throttle. Thank God the bilge pump could keep up but those sitting in the back (sister in law ;) )got drenched. It's funny now but at the time...aw heck, it was funny then too but could have been bad.
