I've been twice in the past two weeks...i have been fishing in about 40' of water but most of the fish have been caught at about the 20'depth>>>catching a lot of small fish but enough keepers to make it a good trip....i would think anywhere in sandy where you can get in deep water you should be able to catch some fish...i have been closer to the mouth of sandy but you should be able to to catch some around smith mountain..good luck
