Hound,

I am surprised by your comment on Ben Stien.

I am equally surprised by your comment on the reaction of people. While I am not endorsing their action .... law makers are suppose to represent the people and the people did not want this forced down their throat or the back room chicago style deal making at the expense of the american people. The law makers showed no respect for the american people ... so you had a group of angry americans showing no respect for law makers.

We (well most of us) can only hope that this proves to be unconstitutional. I was talking to a friend that I would say is very knowledgable on constitutional law and she feels that there are several arguments that are valid where the supreme court could strike this down. Personally I hope so and it would be a wake up call for Obama that we do have separation of powers and it is a way for the supreme court to put it to Obama after his comment in the State of the Union address.

In saying that, the supreme court does not always interpret the constitution the same ... but you do have a fairly good balance of appointees sitting right now.

It should be interesting and I hope the american people do not forget this abuse of power and disreguard for the constitution and the wishes of the american people they are suppose to represent in November.

As for being in favor of Health Care reform ... I am as well ... but we are are talking a very small percentage of people that need healthcare and can not get it. There are other ways to address the problem without a government takeover. The government has NEVER run a social program successfully.

You can not add 32 million people without adding more doctors nurses, facilities without there being bottlenecks and rationing. Oh and while you decide to limit what a doctor can charge ... that will really drive more talented people in to the profession ... especially when the US has the most strict educational requiresments and intern period than any other country. That is part of why the US system was superior than any other country .... so are we now going to lower the standards to get more in to the profession as the most talented choose other fields?

I am sure some go in to medicine for the love ... but we are (where) a capitalist society and many went in to it for the money. Especially some of the specialty fields.
