I finally bit the bullet and a friend and I built a Big Green Egg table and mostly because he is a perfectionist craftsman it came out really nice. Built it out of cedar boards and cypress legs. Also made the side opposite the Egg on the table granite and put a dark granite with a green mineral under the Egg, the green mineral is probably horneblende or diopside, that matches the color of the Egg. Took about 18 hours total for the two of us but we made lots of mistakes. Was educational as it was the first time I had used a router and a Kreg jig. I realize I don't have the patience or perfectionism to make something like this on my own but was a nice break from the mental work I do for a living. I can now see how they charge $600-$700 for these tables. I had $300 in materials in mine but if you skip the granite it can be much cheaper.

If I could figure out how to put pictures on the forum I would post them. Have never gotten to make that work. Now I am going to rest and drink a glass of vino rosa.
