I have been watching and reading as much as I can about immigration reform that is set to pass the Senate and none of the new information has changed my mind about this terrible piece of legislation.  I am actually even more convinced that this is just a political stunt on the part of the Dems and their useful idiots in the GOP to try to influence the mid-term elections.

First of all, with all due respect to the legions on the left and the gov't media (redundant term) giving the GOP "helpful advice" about the need to pass comprehensive immigration reform to save their electoral backsides, this defies common sense.  Taking advice from your political enemies does not strike me as sound thinking or good strategy.  As they said so well in Monty Python's Holy Grail...."Run away!!!  Run away!!!"

Second, immigration reform is consistently low on the priorities of the American people as evidenced by multiple Pew polls showing it around 20th or lower of the list of priorities.  This is all about politics and not about what the American people want or need.

Third, as we have seen with the CBO scoring of the original bill, it will lower wages and increase unemployment, well all except employment with the federal government. Doesn't sound like what the American people want unless you are a member of the political class that counts on the dependent class and SIEU (again, a redundant term) for votes.

Fourth, where is the Congressional Black Caucus on this bill?  With the unemployment rate of young black men moving towards 50% you would think they would oppose any legislation that will further exacerbate the problem,  I think its safe to say that they are firmly on the Democrat party plantation and that their interest is not what is best for the black community, but what is best for them personally.  As if we didn't already know that....

Fifth, the bill as currently constructed (even with the Corker, et al amendments) will not pass the House.  And that my friends is the point.  The Dem party already has the ads ready to go either way.  Even if by some miracle it passes the House they will put our ads telling Hispanics that had it not been for the GOP they would have gotten amnesty right away, all sorts of additional gov't benefits and so on.  GOP bad, vote Dem!  And if it doesn't pass the House, which is what I believe Dems really want, we all know what the ads will say.  GOP bad, vote Dem!  Either way the GOP loses which is why I term the GOP Senators voting for this bill to be useful idiots.

Finally, it will not help the GOP in the least as we saw with their portion of the Hispanic vote actually dropping after the last amnesty under Reagan (something he subsequently admitted was a mistake).  It will happen again except this time it will add over 10 million new Dem voters (assuming they only vote once which is likely a very bad assumption to make).

This is a bad idea that will end Rubio's hope of ever getting the GOP nomination for President.  It will not result in a meaningful reduction in illegal immigration as too much enforcement is left in the hands of the executive branch.  In fact I predict illegal immigration will increase if the economy improves because they want to be here for the next amnesty in 10-15 years when this one falls flat, which it most certainly will.

I will say this for SOTUS, he has shown a lot of discipline by staying  on the sidelines and working this bill from the back alleys.  Last thing the Dems need is another Obamacare on their hands.  That is in fact what we will be getting but SOTUS doesn't need another black mark on his already pathetic legacy as the worst President in the last 100 years, if not longer.
