In a closed-door meeting on Monday night, Republicans moved to gut the already-limited power that OCE has to investigate members. Under a proposal from Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R. Va.),
the office would be renamed the Office of Congressional Complaint Review
and fall under direct oversight of the bipartisan House Ethics Committee.
The new office would have to halt any investigation if the bipartisan House Ethics Committee makes a written request to shut it down.
Anonymous tips to the office would no longer be accepted, and
any investigations that turn up potential criminal activity would be halted immediately and referred to the Ethics panel.
OH MY GOD THE HUMANITY, THE BLOODSHED, THE GUTS AND GORE ------- OHHHHH HEAVENS TO MURGATROYD OVERSIGHT BY THE ACTUAL ETHICS COMMITEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
