Funny isn't it, when it's super cold we are lectured that we don't know the difference between the weather and the climate. But when we have a heat wave it's the end of the world. It's just silly to write a headline that 65 degF was a record high. We haven't even been measuring temperatures in Antartica for all that long. And if you look at the longer record from ice cores we are actually several degC below long term temperatures. As for ice cores, take them with a grain of salt other than maybe providing longer term trends. Regardless, current temperatures are lower than historical trends.
