When asked why they were going to shut down the schools this is what he said.

“I’m a hundred percent frank and candid,” he said. “This is a fear-driven response, you know. This is not a policy being written by a scalpel; this is a policy being cut by a hatchet. It’s just very blunt … it’s out of fear. People see the numbers going up – ‘Close everything! Close everything!’ It’s not the best way to do it, but it is a fear-driven response. The virus scares people. Hopefully we get the numbers down … the anxiety comes down, and then we can have a smarter, more-tailored approach.”

And you sheeple wonder why I balk at things like mask mandates.  They don't follow the science.  What motivates them is entirely different.  They have to seem to be doing something....anything....even if it makes no sense.  But the real reason for the fear is that far too many political leaders see some partisan politican advantage and don't care about the consequences.  That is why I have such admiration for those politicians that do follow the science and do tell the truth. That takes real courage because their political opponents will use it to their advantage, the govt media will pillory them if they are a Republican and so on.  Not much upside except actually saving lives and doing the right thing by following the science.
