I've found this quite amusing.  In the instance of Whoopi, she has been on the nastiest people on The View, then she says something totally stupid and she gets cancelled. But she is protesting that she didn't mean exactly what she said.  People that make their living running their mouths are shocked when the mob rule is applied to them.

I am not familiar with Joe Rogen, but I keep hearing the stories about this one or that one pulling their music from Spotify because he hasn't been cancelled.  Now it comes out that sometime in the past he used the N word and of course that means every black person has to demand that he be cancelled.  Most of those pulling their music are has beens and probably not getting many hits on Spotify anyway.

But I do share your concern.  For a long time, it was just being shouted down if you didn't mouth the approved narrative, but now it's gone further in that they want to SHUT you down for daring to have another opinion and speaking publicly.  It is scarey and I think it says a lot about the state of our society.

And then I am reading about banning books in Texas.  Who the hell is banning books in 2022?  That's as scary to me as the verbal stuff.  My parents, let alone my school, never banned any books that I chose to read.  Just another attempt to censor thoughts and ideas that do not conform, abeit to a different message.
