I voted for Romney in the primary but don't think Dobsen sunk him (although it didnt help obviously). What really happened was Romney/Huckabee/Duncan, etc. (the true conservatives in the race....maybe sans Huckabee) basically ate each other and McCain ended up being the last man standing. He attracted moderates and crossover Dems and the rest split the base. McCain wins and the media gets their mediocre candidate. Unfortunately for them he picked Palin so they had to destroy him (and her) rather than just praise him all the way to defeat ala Bob Dole.

As much as I liked RomneyI am not sure he would have beaten Obama either given the head winds (unpopular President, economic crisis, "historic" nature of the vote, etc.). Who know for sure except he would be significantly better than Obama or McCain as President. What a missed opportunity.
