Because in our culture, people like to label things because it makes things easier to understand. And "racist" gets people's attention because of the history of this country. I know some people that I consider good friends and know that they are not racist, yet they don't like and didn't even consider voting for Obama. They don't like his beliefs. Doesn't make them racists. It just makes them people.
I think that there are segments of white people that just assume that anyone black would be for Obama just because he is black. I mean, Obama being President represents what MLK and other marched for. And in that segment of the population, it scares the h*ll out of them that a black man could be President, regardless of his beliefs. He could be conservative and they would still hate him.
