I understand the whole "run of the river" conncept. And yes, according to the US Drought Monitor, we are abnormally dry but not in drought.
But, according to historical information, we are below the Corp of Engineers curve and below what is normal for this time of year. I have been on the lake long enough to know the plug is not normally pulled in late August and that is what is happening now.
I have no doubt that the abnormally dry situation has something to do with our level but I truly believe the lake could be better managed by both APCO and the Corp of Engineers. They currently use outdated curves and data based on initial estimates used as the dam was originally being permitted. This is ludicrous as more than enough time has passed for more relevant data to be used to manage the lake and river.
