This slow overcast weekend I saved 2 peoples bacon. A sailboat stranded on the rocks by scrub island (between Harbor Point marina and Chucks) and a jet ski at the rock who was broken down. With much effort by my powerfull ski boat I pulled the sail boat out of the mud and rocks. He had the cahones to try to tell me how to do it and where he wanted to be pulled. I said no problem and when he decided to do it my way he was free. Funny, he put his slow moving boat in jepordy of comming apart at the keel on an Island no bigger than my dock but he knew best how to free it. Do you think just maybe he should have not tacked into it in the first place? The jet ski looked to be about 300 years old and had no business being that far from its dock. The guy and gal were gratefull for the tow almost back to Harbor point marina durring the lightning storm but in my opnion should have not been there in the first place.
MY POINT.
Normal gratitude on the lake consists of offering to pay for gas or a case of beer. Which ever is more expensive. At that point I feel the person is truley gratefull. Of course I never take them up on the offer but I feel that expresses true gratefullness. I was not even asked my name by the sailboat fellers (both older gents) and the only gratitude I got for 30 min of my time was a simple wave off.
Ill never stop helping people on the lake but this forum needs to set gratitude rules for all to follow. Any more ideas????
Oh yea, the jet ski youngins were very gratefull for the tow and the beer WE gave them. I got a date with the gal next week. (just kidding)
