I started off with Direct but changed to Dish about four years ago because the programming was much better. I have been completely satisfied with them. I can't vouch for their customer support, because I've
never needed them. Unlike the old "big dish" satellites, channel changing responsiveness is almost instentaneous on both systems. Local channels are not available. I use a rotating rooftop antenna with good reception for Birmingham and Montgomery.
Go to www.dish-network-vs-direct-tv.com for a comprehensive comparison of price, etc.

PS: They both offer personal video recording (PVR)
