Caterpillars, that's funyy!!! They are millipedes. There is not much you can do. We had them one year. They showed up in biblical numbers at night. They are more nocturnal. The best thing to do is get rid of the habitat that they breed in, which is any decomposing plant matter (leaves, mulch, etc) I removed all the mulch around my house and replaced it with pine straw. I rake up the old pine straw every spring and replace it with new stuff and I have not had a problem since. They stink too. Step on a live one then take a big wiff, yummy!!!
