But why wouldn't you do the responsible thing and get a non-resident license anyway? It is only $15 and can be done online. That way there is no debate about being legal. The test is more on SAFETY than the "rules of the road", so anybody will benefit from the test.

I would also bet that if you get stopped by the "fun police", you would get a lot less hassle if you can whip out that license, rather than starting to explain how you are here less than 45 days, but choose to register your boat in Alabama.

I personally think that if you are driving a boat registered to you in Alabama you should have to have a license, no matter where your state of residence is, or how many times a year you operate it. But that is just my opinion.
