The burglary and theft rate on the lake really jumps up during the off season when people leave for the fall and winter. This is what I noticed from when I was a Deputy Sheriff with Tallapoosa Co. You should see how many calls come in when everyone comes back to the lake in the spring to get there lake houses ready for summer and find out there house has been broken into. A really good security system with a great compy will automaticly contact the Sheriff Dept. and send a Deputy to your residence to check it out and contact you. If you want to you can call the Sheriff Dept and talk to someone and they could probably recommend a security company to use. Also if you live on the Lake year round, when you go on vacation to somewhere else just call the Sheriff Dept. and request an extra patrol in at your residence because your leave for a week or weekend and they will make extra periodic checks of the area.
