I too should have installed lifts several years ago and decided to install them this past winter. Luckily I was able to install lifts myself with some help. Bought 4500# lift for approx $1800-$1900 total from Boat Hoist USA. Put it up and it works fine. Also installed an old 3000# lift that I was given, bought sling for my pontoon (abt 4000#) and it works fine too. Will buy a little larger motor this year and change out. Mine are flat plate lifts which seem to be the majority of lifts on the lake except for the largest of boats and it depends on the type of pier you have. BH has other types too and the people are quite helpful. If you are handy at all, these are not that difficult to install.
