Hello all,

First time poster, long time lurker, but this decking stuff is my job. First off, Trex is like Kleenex. It is the brand everyone recognizes, but is generally not accepted to be the best composite product available. If you are going to use a composite material like Trex, look into a product called Timber Tech. They have similar pricing with a better quality product. As for all plastic types, I am not a fan of any of them. EON being rated #1 by consumer reports lacks research for the real issues. EON looks great, but is a nightmare to install and has documented issues with fading and warping. All are certainly at a premium price compared to wood, and require less maintenance than wood. That being said, treated wood is as easy to use as anything, has a known fading pattern, and is much more reasonable in cost to all other alternatives. Maybe the most important thing to note here is that the alternatives are not maintenance FREE, but require much care also. As for Ipe, it is good stuff, expensive, but somewhat difficult to work with.

Enough typing for now........
