Bhamgirl,

We found in previous discussions that Alabama Power always starts raising the lake on the same day every year (regardless of other opinions) and shoot to have the lake to full pool consistently on May 1. They adjust it during the increase according to downstream and upstream conditions, and expected rain amounts.

Here is the information I posted on 2/15/06:

Just some information I would like to pass along to all your Martineers. This information was found on "http://www.lakemartinjournal.com/"

Alabama Power Co. plans to begin raising Lake Martin to its summer level on Feb. 17, according to Andy Sheppard, the company's reservoir operations coordinator.
"We've been doing it on this date for a long time and do not plan to change it this year," he said. "Of course, rainfall in February may make it appear we've changed our plans, but that would not be true.
The targeted winter pool is 480 feet above sea level. At the end of January the level stood at 479.5.
The target date for reaching full pool of 490 feet above sea level is May 1. The speed with which the lake fills is influenced by rainfall.

As for the next party . . . keep me posted !
