Nothing adds up in this deal. I crossed the Coosa in Harpersville on Friday and it was quite high. This indicates to me they are releasing the water to the Alabama River which should help us but who knows.

I think an interesting part of this oddessey is the apparently meek attitude APCO takes with the Corp. They asked for the mitigations in early June and the Corp decided they needed a public hearing. Then after the hearing they decided they needed an environmental study. APCO whined in their press releases and letters that their hands were tied. The Corp was stonewalling as we all know now. Maybe APCO worked behind the scenes with Gov. Riley, but the Corp sure decided they could approve the mitigations without the environmental study once Riley made the issue political and public.

LTL - nothing against your friends in the power co, but they do seem to hide behind the "rules" even when the environment changes. Remember Harris was impounded 20 years ago and this drought started last summer.

I believe the landscape is changing dramatically. The HOBO's will be a significant part of the process going forward. This is a voice we lake users have not had in the past. Lobbying the politicos has an amazing influence on any process such as this and I commend the group's leaders and am proud to be a member.
