I have been reading the Forum for a few months now, and have been generally amused by the banter. However, for the past month or so the sparring has turned to full contact boxing, and is, in general, uncomplimentary to the authors.

So, I have a simple question: How can we ever expect or even hope for world peace, when a simple forum intended for information sharing can exorcise such behavior and venom?

Disagreement is one thing. It is a part of our first amendment right to free speech. What I've observed is personalization of disagreement to the point of name calling and finger pointing. Quite frankly, it's distasteful, and a poor representation of the wonderful people of the Lake Martin area..

The forum is a wonderful way to share a common interest. Lake levels, celebration of an afternoon thunderstorm, where to go for the best price or service needed, great concerts, etc. I, for one, have NO interest in who hates whom, or who can't make a comment without being attacked.

As a "founding member of the silent majority" , this kind of post is unusual for me. I'm sure the attacks on me (none of you know me) and excuses for the behavior will begin..."You don't understand"..."they started it"....."if you don't like it, don't read it".. I don't care. It's amazing that GROWN ADULTS BEHAVE THIS WAY.

It appears some didn't listen to their mothers or their church: "Do unto others..." "Sticks and stones" ..."live and let live"...."turn the other cheek".

Grow up.
