It's not just marine engines......I drag race alot and love the cool fall air.....the Baro goes up, the humidity goes down and gives you whats known as good air (density altitude measurement)....The density altitude change is what is improving the performance of your engine...my car will pick up, up to .4 tenths and 4 mph in the 1/4 in good air.....more power!!!!!!

"The SAE J1349 relative horsepower calculation shows how air density alters the power output of a properly tuned engine. For example, at 85 deg F, 30.14 in-Hg barometer reading, 58 deg F dewpoint and 5000 ft altitude, the engine only produces about 81.1% of the rated horsepower."
