i have been diving in lake martin for over 30 years. i have never been in 50 degree water except once in march looking for a small outboard motor that hit an obstruction and jumped off the guy's transom. it was extremely cold even with a full wetsuit and pitch black dark. we never found it. do you use a drysuit?

however, in the summer months, we usually dive in some of the places yall have mentioned as well as some others in surrounding areas. sandy creek along the steep banks is also a good place to look. most of our dives are between 20 and 40 feet. 2 years ago, i went about 70 feet at the rock. very dark but had about 5-7 foot visibility when my eyes finally adjusted. water temp then was right at 60 degrees at that depth. the surface felt like a sauna when we came up.
