The drought variance requested by Alabama Power has been granted by FERC. The lake is currently at 483' and will be held at that level until March 1, at which time it will continue to fill. FERC also granted a reduction in downstream flows from 1200 cfs to 350 cfs until May 1, which should really help fill the lake if the drought continues.

The HOBOs filed a supporting document for the variance. (see paragraphs 8 and 11) We also requested a review of the variance should the drought conditions worsen to Exceptional Drought, or if APCo is unable to maintain 483'.

BTW, we had 1.8" of rain yesterday.
