I've seen the lake go 473 (8 feet over summer pool) twice. Once in the early 80's, 2nd time in March of '03. The lake flooded twice in 2 weeks in '03, the first time the lake went to 473, a week later, it went to 471. Alot of debris gets washed up on the shore. There are boats already trapped under the docks because the owners did not get their boats out in time. Water is already over alot of the walkways going to the docks. The good news is Alabama Power is saying the water will crest at 470 (only 5 feet over pool) now instead of 471. If anyone needs help, Call David at 205-296-8340. I live on the lake and am willing to help all that need it. We all have to help our neighbors in time of need. On the lighter side, the first time I saw the lake flood, we were in B'ham and just happened to go to the lake. Got there at dark and had no idea the lake had flooded. I got pissed because I thought someone had stolen the dock and barbque pit. It was already under water. The bass boat was in the basement altready floating off the trailer. I went out checking things, big mistake because now I couldn't see the docks under water and all the trash in the lake, I'll never do that again. In the flood of '03, I saw everything from capsized pontoons, trees, refrigerators, picnic tables, etc. floating to to dam. Word of caution boating in flood waters, YOU CANNOT SEE SUBMERGED LOGS and can lose the prop or worst, take out the lower drive, stranding you where you are. Please be careful!
