The devil opened up Kowalgia, to give the folks a place to dine
Offered that souped up menu, he thought he was doing fine
Then he heard about ol' Harbor Docks, messin' with shrimp and grits
And the devil jumped up on a Sea Ray and said: "Boy this is it"

"I guess you didn't know it, but I can cook shrimp too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you serve a pretty good meal, boy, but give the devil his due:
"I bet a Sunday license against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Chris and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been (here)."

Chris, heat up the skillet and set your best price
'Cos hells broke loose in Kowalgia and the devil don't play nice
And if you win you get a Murphy salad that's old
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.

The devil opened up his store and said: "I'll start this thrill."
And sparks flew from his fingertips as he fired up his grill.
As he pulled the burger across the coals it made an evil hiss.
Then shoestring fries hit the grease, and it sounded something like this.
When the devil finished, Chris said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son.
"But sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done."
