It seems to me that boaters are more likely to be discourteous on the water than drivers on the highway. Maybe not, but if so, why?

Are boaters more likely to be "partying" while on the water than the road and not as clear headed?

Does the openness of the water (no traffic lights, no center lines) encourage boat operators to drive as they choose rather that being constrained by the above?

Are more boaters young proportionately than automobile drivers resulting in greater recklessness of the young?

Puzzling, especially since almost every boat driver is also an automobile driver. Is there something about the water and a boat that encourages discourteous behavior?

One of life's great mysteries!!!!!
