See often the big cigar boats running two big V-8 engines at high speed. Wondered about gas consumption. Are we talking about say 1-2 miles per gallon per engine or more?

I have noticed it takes about 5-6 gallons to go from my cabin to the rocks, which is probably about 15 or so miles round trip. Have a 90HP engine on a pontoon. That is not much better than above.

Boating is not free, but so much fun.

Was at the Auburn air show a few weeks ago. Fellow flew a T-33 jet down from Nashville. Announcer remarked he would probably burn about $1,000 worth of aviation fuel down and back and a few stunts for the crowd.

Soaring is even more expensive the boating. Probably just as fun.
