City Council Passes Resolutions to Encourage Economic Development

The Alexander City City Council passed several resolutions Monday night to sponsor items intended to encourage economic development in the city.

Among those items was a resolution authorizing Mayor Barbara Young to allocate $360,000 from the city's capital fund to the Lake Martin Industrial Development Authority to provide incentives for prospective industries.

The city council also approved a $5,000 contribution to Central Alabama Community College to help purchase automatic computer controlled hardware in order to train students in technology representative of that employed in automotive manufacturing. The council designated money for the hardware would come from the city's economic development fund.
