On Wed and Thurs of this week Alabama Power will be holding its second round of Martin Issue Group (MIG) Meetings. The first round of meetings where held in January of this year.

The MIG have been broken down as follows:
- Fish and Wildlife
- Water Quality and Quantity
- Project Operations
- Shoreline Management
- Recreation

The purpose of the MIG meetings are to summarize the concerns, questions, and data requests received to date, and include existing information, current studies, information gathering activities and potential future studies. The January MIG meeting notes may viewed at http://www.lakemartin.org/Relicensing/MIG%20Sheet.pdf.

These meeting are extremely important, as we as stakeholders of Lake Martin have the opportunity to make positive change for the future of the lake. So please attend in order to ensure our voices are heard. As it could be another 10-25 years or more before such another opportunity exists to enact positive change for the betterment of Lake Martin, surrounding the Martin Dam relicensing efforts.

During these meetings, APCo will review the MIG sheets and solicit any additional comments, discuss the FERC study plan process, identify and summarize the draft study plans that have been developed to date, and establish the membership for each MIG. The MIG meetings will occur consecutively throughout the day and a half session to allow you to attend more than one meeting if you choose.

Location:
Central Alabama Community College
Betty Carol Graham Center
1675 Cherokee Rd
Alexander City, AL 35010

The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, September 26th
* 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. MIG 1 - Fish and Wildlife
* 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. MIG 2 - Water Quality and Quantity

Thursday, September 27th
* 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. MIG 4 - Shoreline Management

At the conclusion of each MIG meeting, anyone with interest in a particular MIG may sign up to become a MIG member, which is defined as a stakeholder that wishes to actively participate in the MIG activities throughout the relicensing process.

Once again please attend these extremely important meetings to enact change for the future and betterment of Lake Martin.
