If you have children in your family and want to get hem outside and far away from computers and TV for the day then, head up to Cragford Alabama. (sounds so far away huh?) It just passed Reds Catfish Cabin near Mellow Valley and you wont beleieve the gold operations there for everyone to par-take in. My wife and I went up and we were going to get on the creek there and rent a dredge and dredge for gold for 4 hours but, the weather wasnt in out favor that day. You can pan for gold all day long for $5 and you can take a picnic or buy from the General Store there. Miner Mike will teach you all you need to know and be sure to ask about finding Garnets (Gem Stones) while there. You,ll find a ton of those if you,ll just ask how... They are a great group of people up there and YES there really is gold in the creek.
