Thanks for forum reader Tim for pointing out that Alabama DOT does have an advisory for the Hwy 63 area. Note that this is NOT a closure.

AL Hwy 63 between Jct of AL Hwy 229 to the Coosa County Line mp 12 to mp 16

Due the activities of Aquapalooza July 24-26, 2009, there will be an increase in vehicle traffic and pedestrain traffic in this area. Traffic in this area will be heavy and slow. Extreme caution is recommended. There will be NO stopping, standing, or parking on AL Hwy 63 bridge.

No one knows just how congested it will be really. If there are an estimated 15,000 attendees, what percentage of those will be arriving by land instead of by boat elsewhere on the lake. That is the question. I suspect it will be ever bet as congested and probably more so than the July 4th fireworks.
