A friend just returned his houseboat with a 2000 90 hp Mercury to the water today after being in my shop for roof repair for 5 months. After running about a mile the alarm came on and he shut the engine down. Fortunately someone came by and pulled him the rest of the way to the marina. The oil injector tank was almost full. Can someone tell me why the alarm was on and has he done any damage to the engine if he ran it a few minutes?
