That is called planning Mack - they have a Naval Architect tell them where to position it (no relation to our own Architect I am sure). The advantage to the engine compartment location is that eventually the nozzle of the extinguisher will cookoff, maybe putting out the fire – kind of like one of those built-ins. The bracket under the wheel was done to prevent any litigation from those who might be injured by a falling extinguisher. :-)
