Letter to President Obama

This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now.
He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.
Dear President Obama,
My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.
One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.
So here goes.
I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.
I can't figure out what country you are the president of.
You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
" We're no longer a Christian nation"
" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even
announced to the world,"America is mean-
spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)
I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.
After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."
Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.
I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.
Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.
Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.
And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.
One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.
You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.
And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.
Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

Spot on in the letter, and The Punk in Chief is STILL blaming everything on Bush. He would be more at home hosting a "reality" TV show on MTV than as President. I was hoping that he would man up, start making decisions and take some responsibility, but judging from the State dinner speech, I am again disappointed.

From Fox News: "President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to attend an international conference on climate change, White House officials told Fox News."
Where has this man been? I believe the proper response should be, "...In light of recent revelations concerning, and controversy over, the subject of climate change, the United States is going to conduct an independent, public, and unbiased review of the science. If we can corroborate that there is a significant anthropogenic effect on the climate, then we will rejoin the world scientific community on climate issues.”
He won’t do this. I wonder why?

In "Lotowner" world, lots of people are always sending lots of letters to the President. Tell me, do you know all these people personally? Or is this just more conservative propaganda off some website that you've cut and pasted?
When are you personally going to write a letter to the President and post it here?

Just an observation...
No there aren't any rules that everything has to be original, but it just seems to me that since you are always sharing other people's thoughts, maybe it's about time you shared your own.
Or don't you have any?

As I stated earlier, I have no problem in sharing other peoples opinions on this forum. If you do not like my post, you have the option of skipping to another forum contributor.
If I remember correctly, your post are related to your past experience when you were employed by the government. Does this mean that forum members who worked for the government in Washington are the only ones qualified to offer opinions? And you know about opinions. Everybody has one.
I asked in an earlier post as to what media outlets you watch. You, from previous post, do not like Fox News or anyone associated with Fox News. You also have little respect for Sarah Palin. George Bush is not one of your favorite people. So, who are some of your heroes.
What media do you watch or newspapers do you read? You have to watch or read some type of media in order to keep current on today's events. I and other readers would be interested as to who you consider to be reputable in the media.
I would assume that BO is a favorite followed by the General of the Army who would was protective of the Major who killed 13 and wounded many more of our solders. Again, I concluded that he could not be removed because he was a General and probably was immune to being removed. Maybe so!
Have you ever inferred that anyone who criticizes an Islamic terrorist is a racist? Was George McGovern a hero? Was Jimmy Carter a good president? How will history remember BO?

About the only thing I remember about Jimmy Carter being President was them taking out every other bulb in the ceiling lights and turning the heat down. Oh yes, and the Iranians holding our people hostage and that little mess in the desert. No, I don't think he was a hero.
I reguarly watch "Morning Joe". Around lunchtime, I'll probably turn onto to CNN. Depending on how busy I am, I may pull up the Washington Post and/or the NYTimes. I read the B'ham News every day, but truthfully, mostly for the cartoons. I don't watch Fox News regularly, but if I'm flipping through the channels and something catches my interest, I'll watch it. A few times I've watched Huckabee. At night, I might watch the History channel or Discovery channel, but then I might watch Animal Planet or Top Chef. I believe about half of what I read and hear. I figure the truth of most things lies somewhere in the middle.
People send me a lot of stuff, but I usually delete it without opening it. I don't have a particular interest in political rhetoric. So for all I know, I may be getting the same emailed stuff you are getting, but I just don't open it.
I don't have a "hero". About as close as I've come to heros are Colin Powell and Lee Iocooa (back in the day). But, I admire leadership, not only in public figures, but also in people that you never hear about.
I have no opinion one way or the other about General Casey. I have a number of opinions about Army culture, but I'm not willing to share them on a public forum.
And to quote Forrest Gump - "that's all I have to say about that".

But, I admire GO FAST BOAT HUNKS, not only in public CLOTHING, but also in my dreams about there firm young bodies that you never hear about. I just want to be loved". >>>>Or, is my computor playing tricks again???? Summer, you caused this and you know it.. I think I am in trouble now.

He has never had his priorities straight. He puts a wasteful meeting this ahead of work he could be doing domestically.
Remember how the liberals made fun of Bush for playing gold when there were more important issues ... Obama has played more golf in if first year than any other president in their first year ... but not a peep from the liberals. And what times could be more importatnt to need the focus of the president than what we are going through now.
He has taken more trips in his first year at tax payers expense than any other president ... and most was to bash america. But not a peep out of the liberals. Now he is starting his second year in the same fashion ... gee lets go to a meeting to talk about climate change ... what could be more important than that right now even with the new disclosures.
The guy is a disaster for america. Not one liberal will stand up and say what he has accomplished or done good that explains why they continue to support this guy. It is like someone doped them and they can not deal with reality.
