My husband and I found a young, very sweet, male boxer in the Camp Kiwanis area on 11/30/09 and want to return him to his family. Please call 334.857.2865 if you know of a missing boxer.

If you want to find about 20 more of the d*** things, come over to Point Cloxson. I would appreciate if if you would help them relocate to someone who would be a RESPONSIBLE pet owner. Thank you in advance.

Is people who take the responsibility to care for their pets and are considerate to their neighbors. Sorry, I forgot - we have "progressed" from personal responsibility. Other than the occasional collar, these dogs have no identification on them. When we get to the lake, we have to clean up the trash that these dogs have dragged into the front yard. I have far more trash and chewed up toys down there in a week than I have at home over a two year period....

In Alabama there isn't a leash law, however there is a requirement that owners keep dogs confined to their own property, however a $2 to $50 fine in a county that has much bigger probs than loose animals isn't much of a deterrent. For more info google "dog laws alabama".

§ 3-1-5. Permitting dogs to run at large; applicability of provisions of section in counties and certain cities or towns.

(a) Every person owning or having in charge any dog or dogs shall at all times confine such dog or dogs to the limits of his own premises or the premises on which such dog or dogs is or are regularly kept. Nothing in this section shall prevent the owner of any dog or dogs or other person or persons having such dog or dogs in his or their charge from allowing such dog or dogs to accompany such owner or other person or persons elsewhere than on the premises on which such dog or dogs is or are regularly kept. Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not less than $2.00 nor more than $50.00.

(b) This section shall not apply to the running at large of any dog or dogs within the corporate limits of any city or town in this state that requires a license tag to be kept on dogs nor shall this section apply in any county in this state until the same has been adopted by the county commission of such county.

(Acts 1915, No. 185, p. 259; Code 1923, § 3221; Code 1940, T. 3, § 5.)

Instead of people going off the deep end by ranting and raving about stray/wondering dogs, they should be pleased that there are people who are kind and considerate enough to try to find the owners of the animal. Thank you for thying to unite the dog with his owners, and good luck.

I think it is great that JCM is trying to reunite the fellow with his parents, I just feel that too many people do not treat their pets the way they should, putting them at risk and showing how inconsiderate they are to their neighbors. We have trained our dogs to know the property lines both at home and at the lake, if you care enough to take the time - it is not too hard.

Complaining about people's behavior and lack of responsibility is not the same as being grateful for those that take care of strays. There is a special place in heaven for those kinds of folks and a special place somewere else for those that mistreat them.

Summer Lover....we have a place off of Point Cloxson (Tessie Dr) and are down there almost every weekend. We walk and run a lot and I agree with you about the dogs on Point Cloxson. I love it when the owners say "oh they won't bite". Yea, they won't bite the owner, but they sure as heck might bite the person walking down the street.

The key to this law is a portion of the last paragraph, "nor shall this section apply in any county in this state until the same has been adopted by the county commission of such county". Good luck on finding where Tallapoosa, Coosa, or Elmore County Commissions have "adopted" this law.

We have two properties on Point Cloxson. I agree that the number of dogs running wild in this neighborhood is ridiculous. On the plus side, at least they got rid of the PIG!!

I am with you - I believe your property on the West side of the point is nextdoor to ours - we are North of you, and directly across from the pig's former home...

Agree, they have been known to attack dogs that are being walked around, and have a habit of tying up with one another about 01:00.

Is yours the house next to our brick house? I think it is.

Yea. Its hard to walk a dog around the circle.

I have a male boxer. He is the best dog I have ever owned. The boxers around the neighborhood give the breed a bad rap.

But on the other hand the people have always been really nice to us so I guess we have just learned to put to with the dog pack.

That is us - little vinyl sided cabin, boat on the pad. Agree about the people, just wish they would control the dogs. How is your Dane doing?

We found the owner and returned Harley this morning.....both the dog and owner were excited! Battery on his collar ran out but a new one was placed this morning!
