Over the past years I have mistakenly used Soft Scrub to remove rub marks from the hull on my fiberglass boat. This of course has resulted in some obvious abrasions on the finish. How might I polish these superficial scratches out of the finish without further damage?

I would start wet sanding with 400 or 600 grit depending on how rough it is, then use 800, 1200, 1500, etc. then polishing compound then buff and wax.

You might try a product I've used successfully to remove fender scratches from dark gelcoat. It's 3M Fiberglass Rubbing Compound. You'll need to use a rotary buffer to get a good result quickly.
