Why not have a giant bonfire 4th of July weekend.  It could be at the area that the tornado cleared of trees between the AMP and Children's Harbor.   Everyone could get together and drag the floating crap to that location.  Russell could provide an excavator or two to pile the crap up.  In the mean time we could get a bunch of old tires and used motor oil to keep the fire going.

We could dedicate it to all of the local military returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.

If we could then get a couple of  highschool bands to alternate in playing patriotic music,  we could turn a pile of crap into one heck of a patriotic party.

With an event that complicated, we would have to get huge "quantities" of large bumpers stationed just off shore to direct incoming traffic...

Love the idea of a bonfire. Better than filing up a landfill with treated lumber, etc. KA you are in charge of the organizational details. My pontoon is available for hauling.
