I know you have seen them. They arrive at LM in maybe April and stay until maybe October, and need food while they are here. They are a hoot to watch at a feeder. A cheap, easy way to enjoy a beautiful animal.
Get one and food for next Spring. You will not be sorry.

That is so true...hummingbirds are truly amazing.  I did not put out a feeder this year but saw quite a few around my red salvia...

They are fun to watch, a pair will fight over the food... We tried having two feeders at the house a few years back, but they still did not play nicely. They REALLY fatten up before they head South over the Gulf...

Someone told me that those suckers flew the Gulf non-stop and I did not believe it. Googled it several places and confirmed that they do. And, they do it alone, not as a flock. Incredible to me.
I put up a second feeder just before Labor Day. Took them about 43 seconds to find it. Impossible to count them because of the zipping around, but I think I counted 8 at one time, whacking each other out of line for the food. Stand close to a feeder, be still, and they will hover right off your nose.

At the lake, we have a feeder that is under the roof over the deck, about two feet from the table, and they will buzz the table at times going to feed, they don't care about us at all. I just wonder what they think when I am grilling chicken...

They  are wonderful to observe.  I have 5 feeders out, currently, I am going thru approx 7lbs of sugar a week, they are guttons. 1 feeder is left out a year, and I have had winter hummers to visit.

I have found that the hummers arrive on March 15th, and have usually headed south by 15 October.
