I was on the lake cruising last night and witnessed someone losing their $1000 quad copter in the lake. I realize this may not be the correct section but the scuba section doesn't appear to get as much love as this one. Would there be any willing volunteers to go diving in about 30' of water to find it close to Real Island? If so, I will pass the word along to the guy that owns it. I just hated seeing him lose the quad and gopro that was attached to it. I tried getting over to it but it sunk too fast.

I feel for him. I almost dunked mine one time, it was a close call that I don't care to repeat!

I am a scuba diver.  I am located at real island marina.  Would be interested in helping in the recovery of the quad copter.  My name is don Chavers.  Phone  256 318 1382.

I am sorry to see this happened.  I would be upset if I had lost one.  i have seen some quadcopters online with floats made out of swim noodles or foam pipe insulators.  This would be cheap insurance anytime you are operating over water.

I am very interested in buyng a quadcopter and would like to talk with other users on the forum.

I have thought about noodles or floats for my Phantom but my fear there is that the added weight and wind resistence will burn down the batteries more quickly. My fear might be unfounded, but I definitely don't want to risk getting close to the low battery alarm. When that happens, the copter uses its GPS to return to its takeoff spot, no matter what's in its way.

Phil Adcock has a Phantom also and is really good with it. He is married to Toni Adcock, also a realtor here, and also on this forum under alias "Toni" - she's at ReMax Around the Lake.  Phil is a wealth of knowledge on the subject of quadcopters.
