Of course there is a difference...He is SMART and they are LAZY and DUMB. Trump is like the late Billy Carter who answered a reporter's question about whether it was appropriate for the president's brother to take monetary compensation for public appearances with "if they are dumb enough to pay me, I am smart enough to take it."

If it was at that time legal according to Fed Tax law, how can you fault a businessman, who 20 years ago, used whatever legal loopholes existed to quantify Net Operating Losses that are used all time to balance revenues and expenditures (hence RISK) Heck, I still do it. In your world Copper, if you lose money, you should pay taxes on it. Hillary lies, puts our national security at risk, and nothing from the MSM, Trump follows the law 20 years ago and it is a big deal.

Your quote is interesting in that it refuses to incorporate the legality of Trump's IRS filings which were audited and approved as legal filings, and the apparent assuming that whatever you can do legal or illegal to get free money, phones, EBT cards, Medicaid, etc., is OK.
If tax and welfare filings are both LEGAL and honest, then we cannot condemn the actions of either party. If it's illegal then that's another matter. Can you and Archidiot grasp this?

Wix, well stated. According to Hillary, you are evil if you don't allow the gov't to take more money from you than the law requires.

It is amazing how the Trumpsters are unable to GRASP the significance of this revelation. It is not that he legally took advantage of the tax code, but that he is a man who largely bases his campaign on the claim that he is such a brilliant "businessman" when in reality it is now demonstrated that he was such a bad "businessman" that he managed to lose almost a billion dollars in one year during one of the greatest economic booms of the last half of the 20th century! Of course there is another possibility...he is such a smart "businessman" that he lied about his losses and is actually managing to hide income from the tax man. Would that make you happier? Face it, no matter how Rudy and Chris (the traffic engineer) Christy spin it...losing a billion bucks is not the SOP of a business "genius"! CAN YOU GRASP THAT WIXIEPOO??

Since the vast majority of dimokraps depend on gubment freebies for existence, THE HILDA B----H will try to demonize TRUMP as we have seen and certainly will never say that his filings are perfectly legal......since the filings were 20 years ago TRUMP would have been sent to jail by Slick Willie's administration if he had violated any tax law....

So, he sold some assets for 900 million less than he bought them for 20 years ago. Does this in fact make him a poor businessman?

In the first place, Frankly, yes a very poor businessman and a stupid one too. I am no Donald Trump, but in my entire life I have never bought Real Estate (that is his "business") that was worth less than I paid for it 20 years later. In the Second place that is very unlikely to be the situation here...he lost money on his Atlantic City empire by stupid borrowing and stupid business management. He lost a billion that didn't mean that much to him (after all he says "I am worth 10 billion"), but his employees lost their jobs, his investors lost their money, his vendors went unpaid and the city, state and nation took a tax hit. If you think that is the sign of a good businessman you really are on something!

Atlantic City and DE-troit share a very common problem.....dimokrap management. TRUMP'S mistake was investing money in a dimokrap mafia krap trap like AC. Everyone who invested in AC Casinos lost their butts because the city was so poorly run it turned into a ghetto just like Detroit did.

I have to wonder what the loss was after the IRS audit? Too bad, Don The Con is afraid to show his tax returns that have been audited. This shows he is obviously afraid of somethng or he would be the first to show his beautiful...tremendous tax return. Trump is no fool...he knows thow to get his deplorables jacked up....tell them what they want to hear today and just change it tomorrow. Deplorables can't think for themselves. Give em hats and tshirts.

So Archie, what you are saying is that because of him being such a poor businessman, his employees lost their jobs, vendors went unpaid and investors lost money.....yet you and the MSM want him to pay MORE taxes than what was legally required. Wouldn't that act, in and of itself, further jeopardize those same individuals and institutions you just mentioned? His fiduciary responsibility was to keep his business in the best financial position he could so that he COULD protect those you spoke of. In addition, tax provisions at that time relating to real estate, including depreciation, allowed developers to claim losses even while their investments are APPRECIATING. (Can reference if you would like) He may have suffered some lumps, but remember, those losses could have been carried over from multiple previous years. Smart accounting, something you or I if in the same position would certainly avail ourselves of. Unless you would like to give up your mortgage deduction so that more of your income can go toward feeding the starving.....

Liberals act like trump sat down at the kitchen table and filled out the tax forms himself figuring ways to cheat the taxpayers. Laughable. Anyone with an I.Q. above room temp he has a team of lawyers and accountants that are paid and have fiduciary responsibility to Trump and shareholders to reduce the tax burden as much as LEGALLY possible. They certainly report their results but I seriously doubt at that level he even signed them personally.
Interestingly all these libs that scream that folks should pay more taxes never do so themselves. Billary even took a deduction for bills used underwear. Also interesting that none of the limousine liberals that want more taxation NEVER remittance money to the account set up in 1843 just for folks that want to pay more. That account on average gets deposits in the area of 4 million annually. Truth is they only want other people to pay more.

Nope. Trump's use of losses to offset income was completely legal, though you'd have to also call it unscrupulous.
But just how did he arrive at that $1 billion dollar loss figure? Why is is legal for him to write off losses in real estate transactions (following his bankruptcy) and use those losses to offset personal income from non-real estate earnings (like TV shows, World Wrestling Foundation appearances, etc)? When I have had losses (from the stock market), I could not write those losses off against earned income... only capital gains.... makes me think Trump's use of the tax code is pretty much the domain of the superwealthy, not anyone else.
All that aside, what Trump did was legal.
But then so is having more children in order to increase child welfare checks (an accusation often used against welfare moms), or claiming your sister & her kids live in your home when they visit regularly (to increase food stamp allowances), or trading meat & cheese purchased with your EBT card for beer & cigarettes in the parking lot.
All of that is legal, too.

This is just a red herring someone decided to throw on the table. It means nothing.
No one but the IRS has to worry about how he came to the figure of his loss. Because he would have to show the IRS the logic and reason that it was based on. It is not unscrupulous - all businesses do this. Sheesh, aren't there any Democrats with an Accounting or Business or tax law degree? The way Democrats talk, it sounds like a bunch of English and Sociology majors.

Having more kids is legal, the rest of what you said is totally illegal. What about shrillary's 700k last year. Is that gonna stop you from voting for her. Of course not. The super wealthy use the tax code to lessen their burden but still 1% pays about 80% of all income taxes. Your ignorance and blind loyalty in the face of so much overwhelming evidence is pathetic.
