I wish him well running one of the departments he wanted to close and then accepted the nomination for the department he has no idea what they do. The current head is an American nuclear physicist.

I'm always a bit amused when a politician wants to shut down this or that agency, because most of the time, they are only thinking about some portion of the agency's responsiblilities.  They usually only know a small portion of what a given agency is responsible for, and not the total picture.  I doubt once he is in charge, Perry will be talking about eliminating it.  But yes, they could transfer responsibilites for the nukes to a different agency and perhaps that is what they will do.  As far as Perry in charge of anything, I am a bit disappointed.  I suspect his appointment is some kind of payback, becasue he certainly isn't among the best and brightest.

What I hope the secret service and security does its job and protects him from the liberal/progressive nuts, expecially since CNN ran with "Disaster could put Obama cabinet member into oval office."

That makes 25% of Obama’s original Hope and Change Cabinet picks comprised by tax evaders.  Add that to the fourth scandal of Bill Richardson’s pay-for-play federal grand jury investigation, and we have a full-blown vetting disaster.  And that doesn’t even count new Attorney General Eric Holder’s politicization of Justice ten years ago on behalf of Bill Clinton in the FALN and Marc Rich pardons, or the dozen-plus lobbyists hired by the President Who Hates Lobbyists.
