to full pool....

yes or no on getting under without having a heart attack?

Can't decide whether to consider purchasing over there....I'd like to be able to explore the actual lake and not some tiny pond without waiting for winter levels, but when a house does come up for sale there I notice the price is so much cheaper for equivalent land/lot/water/house....all because of that bridge I guess and how limiting it is.  

I know I could just get a large truck, trailer, etc and drive to public ramp, but don't want to deal with any of that or loading/unloading.  

The one video on youtube is a pontoon baot making it under, but wasnt sure how close to full pool it was or if they had more than an inch to spare.  Im guessing pool was a good bit down then.  Searched the forum and answers years ago were all over the place- from yes you can to 'hell no only a small raft can get under'...

You are limited as to what kind of boat you can own. Otherwise a great place to be with calm waters and great choices of restaurants.

I owned a place on the east side of the hwy 49 bridge for several years, and I had no problem getting my boat under the bridge at full pool, although I had to lower the wakeboard tower, of course.  It was a 19' Mariah open bow.  My neighbors on either side owned pontoon boats and they were able to also get under the bridge at full pool without any problems, as could another neighbor who owned a 20' deck boat.  We did have some friends who owned a Harris tri-toon and they could not get under the bridge unless the lake level was about a foot lower than full pool.  So the answer to your question is that it depends on the boat.  I would recommend that if you already own a boat that you try to go under the bridge when the lake reaches full pool this spring.  That way you will know for sure.

We live on that side of the bridge. Most ski boats can fit under the bridge -- as long as the wakeboard tower is down. We have a 24' dual toon Manitou that fits under the bridge -- as long as the level is not at completely full pool -- which it very rately is. As long as the lake is about 4" below full pool we have no issues. Not much room to spare, but you just keep the kids on the floor and pull yourself through by hand and it works.  Most tri-toons will not fit under the bridge. On of our neighbors modified their tri toon by cutting the cockpit down and it makes it. Lakeside Marina has  a rental fleet of pontoon boats and they run all summer under the bridge -- sometimes they have their employees guide the boats under the bridge when the clearance is minimal. Cons to the east side of the bridge are the water is not as clear as it is once you get to deeper water -- max depth is only about 23' east of the bridge so it takes longer to filter in the spring, the bottom is red clay as opposed to the sandy bottom in other parts of the lake, and the bridge limits the type of boat you can have. The pros are that it's quiet, you don't have to put up with the continuous boat generated waves in the bigger water, and it's perfect if your family enjoys waterskiing/wakeboarding/tubing. There is plenty of room to do those activities and there's not many more than 4-5 days per summer that there is busy boat traffic on that side of the bridge. We love it there!
