Watched the Pentagon briefing today about Afghanistan.  The General and the Press Secretary made it clear that they could not discuss opertational matters right from the start, because those on the ground are still in a dangerous situation.

So right off the bat, someone wanted to know how did we know that there was a secondary explosion with the drones hit the truck with explosives.  Of course, the military is not going to answer that, because to do so, would provide the enemy with information.  Several whined about that "lack of transparency".  So of course they got into the "civilians" that were reported killed during the attack.  The military said they were "looking into it".  Reporters whined about that - as if some civilians getting killed who happened to be near the truckload of explosives set to kill our military, should be of the utmost importance.  This is one of the things that gets me - it's a war and people get killed, and the American reporters and public needs to get used to that idea.

I don't know if it is just a young set of reporters who have never been near a war zone or are just totally stupid.  Did they think the Pentagon was going to lay out all of their operations, intel sources and plans so they can put it in the public doman and have the enemy read it?  They shoud save those questions for the talking heads who will opine on anything asked of them.

Why not - Biden left behind weapons, trucks, blackhawksm nightvision and a list of people for the Taliban to go hunt down.  The Taliban get their intel, arms and cash from the Biden administration - they do not need to read American news and try to pick out details from fluff when they are given the full raw data.

While I get your point I am actually happy they are asking tough questions even if we know they will not get any answers, and for good reason in cases that touch on operational issues.  Frankly if this wasn't such a complete FUBAR these questions would not need to be asked because a moderately competent administration would have never put themselves in this position in the first place.  That multiple senior members of the cabinet haven't resigned in disgrace tells you how morally bankrupt they are.  Talk about a trifecta of disasterous attributes: moral bankruptcy, gross incompetence and immense hubris.  Put those three together and add the icing on the cake, a POTUS that is senile and diminishing rapidly before our very eyes and a VPOTUS that slept her way to the top.

No arguments - I think all of them should resign, but yesterday we had the Secretary of State on TV patting himself and his cronies on the back.

Yes, I agree that we need reporters to ask hard questions - but they slide off this administration like teflon.  I  point I was trying to make was that even when told that they would not be given operational data while the operation was ongoing, they whined.

I read an interessting article opinion piece yesterday, noting how Harris is being kept under wraps during this whole thing - even though, early on, the Administration insisted on being called the Biden-Harris Administration at all times.  I'm thinking that the reason for this is two fold - one is that she has shown herself so incompetent that they don't want to be judged on her gaffes; or two, that they are trying to keep her away from all these disasters so she will be untouched when she runs for President in 2024.  She has never had a press conference, she doesn't regularly communicate with the media and despite Biden's assurances that she would always be in the room when big decisions were made - she's obviously not sitting at the table.

The beauty of being a Dem politician in 2021 with a complicit media and a astonomically stupid base of support.  Say virtually anything, ANYTHING,  just give it some minor hint of coherency even if it’s totally wrong, let it simmer in the saucepan of the MSM.  The media will then present it as wisdom, and the public is 1. incapable of seeing the flaws, or 2. do see the flaws and are told that their way of thinking is racist.  Quite a strategy.

I think it's a bit of both.  Her team doesn't want her stained with this umitigated disaster and Joe's team doesn't want her making a horrible situation even more horrible. I can only imagine the ads against her showing her cackling about the Afghan disaster and then offering some horribly framed response.  They do not need any more ammunition.  My sense is that her attempts to distance herself from this mess will not work.....it's rare that a VPOTUS gets away with that although as CRD rightly pointed out, when you have a complicit media working overtime to cover for you it is more likely to escape with less damage.

Reminds me of the business philosophy that A players hire A players, B players hire C players and C players hire D players and so on.  I would put the current admin in the F player category so that puts Kamala below them.

That has been the case since long before 2021.  But given the gross malfeasance of the current administration it has been raised to a whole new level.

As for your comments about their base, there is a video of a guy asking basic questions of people on the streets in NYC that they could not answer.  Some examples to show just how far gone our education system has fallen.

1.  What is Obama's last name?  Most didn't know but one answered "care".  I kid you not.

2. If you are traveling at 60mph for one hour how far have you traveled?  One idiot said one mile.  Most couldn't answer.

3. Can you name one continent?  One lady answered Alaska and others joined in naming other states.  No one else could come up with one.

Lots of other very basic questions that these people could not answer.  Depressing.

In his speech today, Biden was totally self justifying.  He thinks he did a great job.  That alone is proof the man has no logical reasoning.  I'm not impressed because he looked fierce and told ISIS-K that he wasn't done with them. Wonder how he will justify it when they attack the US interests or kill Americans.  Oh, that's right, it's okay with Joe that we left 10% of Americans behind.  But he'll let someone else clean that up.

You know when someone gets elected because voters think he is "nice", there isn't much hope.  Better to be nice and have no brain than to be smart and offend someone.
